I initially worked in the film industry doing visual effects for some of its largest movies, commercials, and television shows. The hours were long, the rooms dark, and the creativity I longed for just didn't exist in my position. I had worked in the restaurant industry for many years prior and had been baking from scratch my entire life. Feeding people delicious sweets had always given me joy. After my job got outsourced to India, I ended up watching one too many episodes of
Ace of Cakes and Cake Challenge on the Food Network and became enchanted with the art of cake decorating. I took a couple classes and discovered it was a way for me to combine my love of cooking and my background in art in a wonderful end product that made people smile. I interned at a high end bakery in Beverly Hills for a little bit and I took every opportunity to create for family and friends and soon word began to spread. Thus the birth of Katana Cakes took root.

Katana Cakes' focus on the art of cake is to create amazing, one-of-a-kind cakes to enhance each client's celebration, creating their dream confection that will at once amaze the eyes and delight the tummy. We use as many organic, sustainable ingredients as possible and ALWAYS bake from scratch. Katana Cakes is Food Handler certified.

I have been a contestant on Food Network's competition show, "Sugar Dome" (Rock Star Concert, late 2012). My cakes have appeared in S Magazine, on HGTV's "Halloween Block Party" (2011) , in a Cricut Cutting Machines commercial , as well as being featured on the Heidi and Frank Show and on the show "Children's Hospital."
